Here you can find information on how to install and run Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on the Sony VAIO VGN-SZ1M/B .

Linux installation

First, i tried booting with the Ubuntu Fesity Fawn, the Live Cd installations worked fine. Materials like Wifi, Sound and Dual Core Processor had been well recognized. Here is my /etc/apt/sources.list

Next, i update my system

Graphic Card Nvidia Geforce Go 7400

Next enable glx and edit your xorg.conf, like follows :

In the section module, check if the following lines are commented :

and don’t forget to check if Nvidia Drivers are enabled, you must read nvidia and not nv in the Device Section !

reboot X by CTRL+ALT+SUPP, now you must see Nvidia Logo !!! I used NVIDIA Driver Version : 1.0-9631

Network

I use Applet NetworkManager 0.6.4. It works fine !!! It supports unencrypted, WEP, WPA, and WPA2 networks !!! Very easy to configure !

Fn keys and S1-S2

Fn keys work fine but the key S1-S2 are out of order.
